As someone who loves fashion and satire, I want to provide well-made apparel and decor with unique, funny motifs. It's for people who care more about the clothes they wear than the status attached to them.
Making design matter to my project team
One of the first things I did when iterating on the storefront was set up a short weekly review with anyone touching the project. This was my chance to get everyone on board with the design itself, the goals, and the key metrics we would use to measure success.
Lessons
As a designer, I believe in the decisions I make and the rationale behind them. I also believe in sometimes being wrong. The people around me help keep me in check. To that end, I try to foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing an opinion on a design.
Outcomes
- The team became another resource to verify assumptions and make informed design decisions
- Developers started asking questions about design decisions and giving their own suggestions
